Bullemer ties for top spot in pole vault at Roe
Columbia Falls athletes made their presence felt across the board at the Archie Roe Invitational in Kalispell on Saturday, turning in standout performances on both the boys and girls sides.
For the girls, Soli Bullemer tied for the top spot in the pole vault with a 10-6 leap.
Lane Voermans led all discus throwers with a winning mark of 173-9.5 and placed third in the shot put at 51-0
On the jumps side, Stanley Stremick tied for third in high jump at 6-0, and also took fourth in the long jump (20-5.25) and fourth in the triple jump (42-6). Dylan Owens won the freshman long jump (18-5) and placed fourth in the triple jump (36-10), while Willem Pedersen also cracked the top five in the long jump.
Pole vault was another bright spot as Oliver Kress and Isak Soyland went 2-3 in varsity competition at 13-6.
On the track, Jack Phelps delivered one of the biggest moments of the meet for the Wildcats, placing second in the 400 meters with a time of 49.74 seconds — a personal best in one of the state’s most competitive events. He also helped lead the Wildcats’ 4x400 varsity relay squad to a third-place finish in 3:33.21, alongside Jadon Persinger, Jett Brandeberry and Trip Ross.
In the sprints, Phelps took sixth in the varsity 100 meters (11.55).
Courtney Hussion was fourth in pole vault with a 9-0. She also took fourth in the high jump with a 4-11.
Mila Johns turned in a pair of top-10 finishes in varsity hurdles, placing eighth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.58 and ninth in the 300-meter hurdles in 52.15.
On Thursday, Columbia Falls athletes put together a deep and balanced showing during a competitive triangular meet at Bigfork High School, going head-to-head with the Bulldogs and Bigfork.
The Columbia Falls boys team dominated the distance events. Aiyers Powell led a sweep of the 1,600 meters, winning in 4:56.4. Cosley Payne (4:59.7), Mason Colliander (5:01.9), and Cash Short (5:03.9) all followed closely. River Blazejewski was a double force, winning the 800 in 2:09.65 and placing third in the 3,200 (12:14.12), while Arne Troy grabbed second in the 3,200 (11:55.34).
Columbia Falls flexed its depth in the throws. Lane Voermans swept both the shot put (49-8) and discus (168-7), leading a dominant front. Joe West backed him up with a second in the discus (134-4) and ninth in shot put (35-3.5). Brock Swope and Brayden Swope added solid efforts in javelin, placing third (127-6) and fourth (123-3), respectively. Kanen Brickert and Jackson Barker rounded out a top-six C-Falls presence.
Jack Phelps was the top sprinter for Columbia Falls, finishing fourth in the 100 meters (11.47) and second in the 200 (23.46). Jett Brandeberry (23.95), Banyan Johnston (24.49), and Easton Brooks (24.65) added key depth in the 200. The Wildcats’ 4x400 relay team of Easton Brooks, Trip Ross, Jaydon Lapierre and Benny Forman captured the win in 3:38.91.
In hurdles, Lucas Fink (47.54) and Bjorn Pedersen (48.96) took the top two spots in the 300. Miles Colliander was third in the 110 hurdles (16.81), with Dylan Owens earning points in both hurdle events.
On the girls side, Columbia Falls showed endurance and technical skill. Chloe Savoy won the 1,600 meters in 5:21.1, leading a sweep with Marissa Schaeffer and Emalia Hartley finishing second and third. Findley Dezzani (12:14.38) and Mya Badger (12:46.59) claimed the top two spots in the 3,200. Ashley Andrews ran 1:01.94 for third in the 400 meters.
The hurdle duo of Tia Baker and Aubrey Smith delivered once again. Baker won the 100 hurdles (18.31) and was third in the 300 hurdles (55.51), while Smith took second in the 300s (55.43). Devyn Shough also contributed in the 300 hurdles.
In the girls field events, Amelia Kavanagh won the javelin (95-6), followed by Selah Heinzen (89-0) and a deep contingent of Columbia Falls throwers. Rachell Ruther (29-9) led the team in shot put, while Olivia Hook (86-6) and Olivia Jesmore (81-3) went 2-4 in discus.
Annika Johns won the 200 meters in 30.57, while Aubrey Smith took fourth in the 100.
