Dale Edward Barr, 90

| June 25, 2025 7:00 AM

Dale Edward Barr, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend died peacefully on June 6, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on Aug. 2, 1934, in Hutchison, Kansas to Stanley and Olive Barr. Dale spent his final year at the Montana Veteran’s Home in Columbia Falls surrounded by his family and caregivers, whom he cherished deeply.

A proud Army veteran, Dale carried the values of service and camaraderie into his civilian life. He married June Friske, the love of his life, in 1960. They each brought a daughter into their union, Cindy (Virgil) Lamoureux and Vicki (DeWayne) Padgett. Years passed and the family grew by three granddaughters and six great grandchildren. Cindy’s daughter Lynsie (Nick) Olson, children Daegan, Rylan, and Landon. Vicki’s daughters: Lacey (Mark) Pederson, son Dalton; and Chelsey (Charles) Hunstiger, children Xzander and Brinley Lobaugh.

Dale and June spent many years enjoying the greens at Meadow Lake Golf Course where their laughter and competitive spirit became legendary in the local golf league. His commitment to his wife and family was unwavering, whether camping, fishing, arm wrestling with his grandchildren, sharing off-color jokes, or making sure everyone got home safely by requesting his adult children call him upon arrival. The great-grandchildren will always remember the quarters he slipped to them on their way out the door each visit.

Dale’s professional life was marked by his ownership of Barr’s Machine Shop and Electric, initially in Columbia Falls and later in Evergreen, where he earned a reputation as a master machinist. Always ready to lend a helping hand particularly with his daughters and their notorious car troubles, which he approached with patience and care (most of the time). Dale’s generosity and skill made him a cherished man among family, friends, and even strangers.

Dale leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a family that cared for him dearly.

In celebration of Dale’s life there will be a graveside memorial held at Woodlawn Cemetery at 2 p.m. on July 3, 2025. A luncheon will follow at The Hub in Columbia Falls at 3 p.m. All are welcome to join in commemorating a life well lived and well loved.

As we gather to honor Dale, we remember that “We get no choice. If we love, we grieve.” His absence will be deeply felt, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
