The Glacier Twins faced a challenging week on the diamond, splitting a home doubleheader with Libby before falling in four straight contests to Cranbrook and Kalispell.

Despite the recent slide, the Twins showed flashes of offensive power and standout pitching, most notably in a commanding 10-3 win over Libby on June 11.

In that game, Glacier jumped out with a four-run first inning and never looked back. Michael Miller led the way at the plate, going 2-for-4 with an RBI. Dawson Juntunen, Trenton Derosa, Wes Amerman, and Treyson Murphy each added hits and runs batted in to pace the offense. On the mound, Derek Juntunen allowed just one earned run over 4 1/3 innings, and Reed Boyer slammed the door with 2 2/3 no-hit innings, striking out six.

The first game of the doubleheader, however, went the other direction, as Libby took advantage of Glacier miscues to win 6-1. Although both teams had only three hits apiece, Libby capitalized on defensive lapses, while Glacier’s bats remained quiet aside from a double by Nolan Amerman.

The weekend brought two close battles against Cranbrook, but the Twins couldn’t close the gap in either contest. They lost the opener 8-5 in the first game. Later that day, the Twins nearly pulled off a dramatic comeback in the second game, plating six runs in the sixth inning, but ultimately fell 7-6.

On Monday, the Twins dropped a pair to the Kalispell A Lakers team, 10-3 and 16-6. They’re now 1-9 on the season.
