Robert Al Johnson, 82

Robert “Bob” Al Johnson, Jr., 82, of Columbia Falls went to go be with the Lord April 28, 2025. He was born July 13, 1942 in Minneapolis, MN to the late Robert Al Johnson, Sr. and Geraldine Elenor Johnson (Levine).

He grew up attending school in Minneapolis and Jackson, MN. He attended Mankato State where he met his future wife and received his teaching degree. Bob was a passionate school teacher at Tracy (MN), Coram, Westview, and Glacier Gateway for over 30 years. He cared deeply for all his students. Bob liked to support his children and students at all their extracurricular events. During his free time he enjoyed everything the great outdoors had to offer including kayaking, fishing, camping, hiking, photography, and hunting. Bob was a member of Columbia Falls United Methodist Church since 1970. He had a great sense of humor and at times could be ornery and stubborn. One of his favorite past times growing up in Minnesota was pheasant hunting. He will always be remembered for his vegetable soup recipe.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Sue Johnson; children Christi S. Johnson (Shelly) and Erica Sue Johnson; granddaughter Kyrie Johnson; sister, Linda Daniels (Ron); cousins, nieces, and nephews and their families; and Labrador companions, Ebony and Harley. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by an infant twin brother; a brother-in-law, and numerous aunts, uncles, and in-laws.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at Saturday 11 a.m. on Aug. 2 at Columbia Falls United Methodist Church, 117 2nd Street West, Columbia Falls, MT 59912. Inurnment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia Falls, MT. Please feel free to wear red (Bob’s favorite color), gray/silver for Parkinson’s disease, or light blue for prostate cancer.
