Kortney Renee Carlon, 35

| June 4, 2025 8:45 AM

Kortney Renee Carlon was called home to join the Lord in Heaven on April 17, 2025 at the age of 35.

“Kort-Snort” was born to Kameron Carlon and Kim Wehr on May 26, 1989 in Edmonds, Washington.  She was raised in Columbia Falls by Mark and Kim Role along with her siblings Garrett, James and Avery Role.  She married Mike Moss in September of 2009 and this union brought her a son, Kameron Michael Moss on May 13, 2010.  He became the pride and joy of her life.  Her deep love for him is something that only the two of them will ever understand as they were more like best friends than mother and son.

They loved baking brownies, going for burgers and staying up late nights together.  As a little girl Kortney was imaginative and dramatic, always with a fantastic story to tell.  She was creative and had a knack for making the mundane tasks playful.  Her creativity was highlighted when at the age of seven she won the t-shirt logo design contest for Kids Helping Kids, the grand prize being a big celebration at Woodland Park with a picnic, prizes and festivities.  Kort walked on air that day!

Kortney was an extremely hard worker and tried several different types of jobs, even earning her certificate as a nail tech in nail artistry from Crevier’s Academy of Cosmetology Arts.  Her most recent job was with Wal-Mart as Lead Stocker on the night crew.  She took great pride in this work, working late hours and never refusing them when they asked her to take on more.

Kortney lived simply.  She never put value in our culture’s ideals of material possessions and career successes.  She knew that love and respect are what really mattered at the end of the day.  She understood that while you can’t take accumulated things with you when you go, you can take love and you can leave others feeling loved.  That mattered most to Kortney.  She was always caring about others and finding ways to connect in a deep way with people.  She had a big heart, and a very tender heart.  She will be missed.

Kortney is survived by her son Kameron Moss; parents Mark and Kim Role; siblings Garrett, James and Avery Role; grandparents Jim “Pa” McElroy, Carolyn Wehr; great-grandmother Blanche Garrett; aunts Jonna Salansky (Mark), Dustyne Grove (Greg), Teri Hill (Gene); cousins Shea Clayton, Rusty Hill, Jesse Hill, Cody Hill, Tanner Salminen, Colter Salminen.

Kortney was preceded in passing by her father Kameron Carlon; grandparents Geri McElroy, Sheridan Knutsen, Dick and Sue Role; great-grandfather Monte Garrett; cousin and friend Cory Nadvornick and several other family members.

As we try to find closure, we welcome friends and family to join us for graveside services and a celebration of life on Saturday, June 7, 2025. The service will be at 11 a.m. at Conrad Cemetery, 641 Conrad Drive, followed by a potluck luncheon at the Birch Grove Community Hall, 594 Birch Grove Road, in Kalispell.  Please bring a chair in hope of good weather.
