Albert “Gene” Rodgers, age 78, of Columbia Falls passed away on Feb. 19, 2025, surrounded by family. Born Nov. 18, 1946, in Whitefish. Gene lived a life filled with service, passion, and devotion.
A proud veteran, Gene served in the Vietnam War as a member of the 25th Mechanized Infantry and was awarded the Bronze Star. His time in the army instilled a deep sense of duty, discipline, and compassion—qualities that shone throughout his lifetime. After his service, he built a career as a heavy equipment operator, exemplifying hard work and dedication.
Gene was a man of many talents and interests. Passionate about automobiles, he restored hot rods in his shop and cherished his 1970 Cougar.
Gene was an avid outdoorsman who embraced many activities with a spirit of adventure. His clever card-playing entertained his grandchildren, and his hobby of making jewelry and polishing rocks revealed a lifelong curiosity.
Above all, Gene was a devoted family man. He treasured his loving wife of 57 years, Charlene Rodgers, his children, Rhonda Brooks and Brian Gene Rodgers (Danielle), and his grandchildren, Sydney and Taylor. He also leaves behind his brother, Delbert Rodgers (Karen), along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Known for his signature coveralls and holiday yard light displays, Gene’s generosity, wisdom, and vibrant spirit will be dearly missed. His legacy of service, creativity, and love continues to inspire all who knew him. Gene’s unwavering commitment to family enriched many lives; his warm smile, gentle humor, and steadfast kindness will remain a cherished beacon for all who knew him.
Gene is preceded in death by his father Charles Fern Rodgers, mother Ruby Grace Rodgers (Puckett), brothers Ray, Darrell, Benny, Jesse, and sisters, Peggy and Patty.
A celebration of Gene Rodgers’ life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Columbia Mortuary, 1010 4th Avenue West, Columbia Falls, MT 59912. Family and friends may begin to visit on Saturday starting at 10:30 a.m. To send online condolences, please visit columbiamortuary.com
