The roll continues.

The Columbia Falls boys basketball team got two key conference victories last week, dropping Whitefish on the road Tuesday 77-52 and Libby at home Thursday, 75-39

Bjorn Pedersen led the team with 15 against Whitefish and Easton Brooks had 14. Grady Hutton had 10 and Reggie Sapa had 16 rebounds to lead the Wildcats.

The boys shot 45% from beyond the arc against the Bulldogs and 48% from the field. Whitefish meanwhile shot just 28%, from both ranges, a testament to the Cats’ defense.

Against Libby the hot shooting continued, as the Cats were 50% from beyond the arc and 59% from the field.

In the Whitefish game there were a whopping 132 shots taken and against Libby, the Loggers were down just 10 at one point, when it was 36-26. But the Cats went on a 31-3 run.

Pedersen had 13 and Stanley Stremick had 12. The Cats had seven blocks in the win.

Things get tougher this week, as the Cats travel to Browning Friday and then wrap up the regular season against Polson at home Feb. 25.

The goal is to beat Browning and win the Northwest A conference outright, coach Chris Finberg noted.

“If we beat (Browning) then we’re guaranteed of winning the conference,” he said.

They’re 9-1 in conference play and 14-2 overall.
