Voermans sets ARM discus record
Columbia Falls discus thrower Lane Voermans set a new Whitefish ARM record Saturday with a throw of 181 feet, two inches.
Ashtin Brown of Polson and Voermans continue to push each other in a friendly but fierce rivalry. Brown took first in the shot put at ARM and earlier in the week, the Missoula Top 10 meet; highlighted by a school record heave of 61-10.5 at the ARM Invite, a massive personal best. Voermans, not to be outdone, captured the discus title at the Top Ten Invite with a throw of 170-4 in Missoula, then unleashed the all-time meet record 181-2 at Whitefish.
In the shot put, Voermans finished runner-up to Brown at both meets with throws of 50-8 and 54-0, respectively.
Columbia Falls’ Isak Soyland had a strong week in both horizontal and vertical events. He took second in the Top Ten long jump (21-1 PR), then won the pole vault at the ARM Invite with a personal-best 13-6, just edging out teammate Oliver Kress. Stanley Stremick of Columbia Falls soared to a long jump victory at Whitefish with 21-3.75, while also taking third in the triple jump.
On the girls’ side, Soli Bullemer of Columbia Falls had a busy and productive day in Whitefish, winning the pole vault (10-3), triple jump (34-10), and placing third in the long jump. Teammate Shelby Norman cleared 9-0 in the pole vault for a personal best. Sol Holmquist threw a personal-best 111-3 for second in the javelin.
In the 3,200 at ARM, River Blazejewski took second in the 3,200 with a 10:53.48. In the 300 hurdles, Miles Colliander was third with a 43.36.
