Man dies on Sperry Trail in Glacier National Park

A 65-year-old man died in Glacier National Park on the Sperry Trail Aug. 28.
The man apparently slipped and hit his head and was unresponsive. Rangers responded with a litter and used a defibrillator on the man but he died.
The deceased man was transported to West Glacier to be picked up by a funeral home. The death remains under investigation, as it wasn’t clear whether the man slipped and hit his head due to a heart condition or the fall caused the heart issue.
He name was not released.

Rangers assisted vehicles along the alpine section of the highway on Aug. 28 as well, because of snow and ice conditions.
On Aug. 27 a man fell off a horse on the Boulder Pass Trail. The man suffered a head and shoulder injury and he was escorted back to Goat Haunt for further treatment while the rest of the horse party proceeded on its journey.
A party used their Garmin InReach to send out an SOS that they were cold on Aug. 28 while at the Fifty Mountain backcountry campground. They later warmed up and said they were OK.
On Aug. 28 a person crashed their car on the Going-to-the-Sun Road and suffered a broken wrist.
Two Bear Air transported a woman from Brown’s Pass who broke her ankle on Aug. 31.
On Aug. 27, rangers responded to a report of a pine marten inside an RV engine compartment. A wildlife biologist responded and was able to get the marten out unharmed. A pine marten is an animal of the woods and looks like a large weasel. They can be very curious creatures at times.
