Football: Cats face rematch with Dillon this week, trounce Browning
Hungry Horse News
The Columbia Falls football team bounced back in a big way Friday night, hammering conference rival Browning on the road 35-0.
“The kids responded well from the previous week,” coach Kelly Houle said. They were more physical and more tight knit, he noted.
The Wildcats were led by senior running back Reggie Sapa, who rushed for 134 yards on 19 carries and scored four touchdowns, with one fumble.
Sophomore quarterback Banyon Johnston also settled into a groove going 10 for 24 passing for 144 yards and one touchdown.
All told the Cats racked up 491 yards of total offense, including special teams plays.
The defense also played much better, shutting out the Indians while holding them to just 60 yards passing and 41 yards rushing.
Houle said the team made some defensive adjustments, which allowed them to play fast and hard and it worked.
The Cats face Dillon on the road this Friday. It’s a rematch of the state championship game where Dillon won by a point in OT. But both teams have lost a lot to graduation and now are young, but talented squads.
“They lost a lot of studs, we lost a lot of studs,” Houle noted.
Still, the Cats will look to even the score against a perennial rival. Dillon is coming off a 55-0 drubbing of Stevensville.
