Looking back to ‘64

| October 23, 2024 8:40 AM

Since I just celebrated my 60th Class Reunion with the CFHS Class of 1964, I’ve been thinking a lot about the current state of our country compared to where we were in 1964.   At that time we were reading in our English literature, American history and government books about the founding of our country and the principles upon which it was built.

I recently watched a You Tube documentary “Monumental” by Kirk Cameron  that sums up how America came to be—the only success strategy of liberty that has ever been carried out in the history of mankind.  Hidden on a hilltop overlooking a residential area of Plymouth, Massachusetts is a 180 ton solid granite statue—the largest granite statue in  America—that the people of America put together over a 70 year period paid for by Congress and the state legislature in Massachusetts as a strategy laid out by the Matrix of Liberty that was given to us by the Pilgrims.   One hundred thirty years ago they wanted to leave this behind for us so if we would ever forget how liberty is built, we could know what to do to regain it. (This paragraph is quoted from the movie.)   A movie well worth your time to watch.

This summer I read “Bonhoeffer”  by Eric Metaxas about a man who gave his life attempting to warn  the Germans what was happening in the ’30s.

Another eye opener.

Several of my classmates  have confirmed remembering our American Government teacher, Kerel Hagen, quoting Nikita Khrushchev as saying something like “we will conquer America from within without firing a shot.”

I Googled the speech and found the following:

Sept. 29, 1959. THIS WAS HIS ENTIRE QUOTE:

“Your children’s children will live under communism, You Americans are so gullible.  No, you won’t accept communism outright; but we will keep feeding you small doses of socialism until you will finally wake up and find you already have Communism.  We will not have to fight  you; We will so weaken your economy, until you will fall like overripe fruit into our hands.

“The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.”

Remember, socialism leads to Communism. So, how do you create a Socialistic State?

According to Khrushchev there are eight levels of control; read the following recipe.

1) Healthcare - Control healthcare and you control the people.

2) Poverty - Increase the poverty level as high as possible, poor people are easier to control and will not fight back if you are providing everything for them.

3) Debt - Increase the debt to an unsustainable level. That way you are able to increase taxes, and this will produce more poverty.

4) Gun Control - Remove the ability to defend themselves from the Government That way you are able to create a police state.

5) Welfare - Take control of every aspect (food, housing, income) of their lives because that will make them fully dependent on the government.

6) Education - Take control of what people read and listen to and take control of what children learn in school.

7) Religion - Remove the belief in God from the Government and schools because the people need to believe in ONLY the government knowing what is best for the people.

8) Class Warfare - Divide the people into the wealthy and the poor. Eliminate the middle class. This will cause more discontent and it will be easier to tax the wealthy with the support of the poor.

I encourage you to check out this website: millionvoices.org showing some of the candidates and where they stand on many issues—just the facts with footnotes to backup their stance.   May we vote on the issues and not the personalities of the candidates.
