Alpine section of Going-to-the-Sun Road closed

Glacier National Park closed the alpine section of the Going-to-the-Sun Road Thursday morning due to ice hazards.
The road is closed between Avalanche Creek and Jackson Glacier Overlook to vehicles.
The weather forecast today is calling for snow and rain, though improves to mostly sunny conditions on Friday, which could lead to a reopening of the road.
The alpine section of the Sun Road will close for the season at midnight on Sunday and won't reopen until next spring.
Secondary roads in Glacier remain open and on the west side, the larch trees are starting to round into peak fall colors.
