Night of Lights coming up next week
The annual Night of Lights Parade is coming up on Friday, Dec. 6, sponsored by the Columbia Falls Lions Club.
The parade down Nucleus Avenue begins at 6 p.m. This year’s theme is “Holiday Movie” so bring your favorite holiday movie to life.
Floats can start lining up at 5 p.m. at the end of Nucleus Avenue. This year, BNSF Railway has allowed the floats to use a dirt road near the tracks, as lining up on Railroad Street proper can be a hazard.
Registration is $20 per float and folks can bring the form with them to the parade, or they can email it to kayla.ruby.hartley@gmail.com or regular mail to PO Box 1191, Columbia Falls, MT 59912.
The parade kicks off the holiday season in Columbia Falls and has been going on for decades, canceled only if the weather is well below zero and there’s a wind (which has happened).
The day after the parade don’t forget the Rotary Club’s annual Brunch with Santa.
Timber Creek Village hosts the event with doors opening at 9:30 a.m. to welcome children and families to talk to Santa and Mrs. Claus and to enjoy a meal while gathering with friends and family in the spirit of Christmas. A silent auction runs throughout the morning with bidding on donated gifts, goods and services from area businesses and individuals.
Kids under 12 are free to enter with an adult, for whom tickets for the meal are $10. All proceeds return to the community by means of the charitable work of the Rotary Club.
