Coram woman faces weapon charge after stand off with SWAT team
A Coram woman faces a charge of assault with a weapon after allegedly shooting at family members at a home on Platte Road in Coram Nov. 21.
According to the Flathead County Sheriff’ Department, Anne Hislop, 41, allegedly physically assaulted a 13- year- old family member and shot a firearm at family members while they attempted to flee the residence.
Deputies responded shortly after 5 p.m. and contained the perimeter of the residence and attempted to contact the suspect who was reported to be still inside the house, the Sheriff’s Department said in a release.
While attempting to contact the suspect, shots could be heard coming from the residence. Hislop refused to exit and barricaded herself inside. The Flathead County Regional SWAT Team responded and deployed non-lethal pepper munitions into the residence which forced the suspect outside. Once outside she continued to ignore commands and was successfully detained by a K9 unit at approximately 8 p.m.
Hislop was treated for minor injuries in the incident. There were no reports of other injuries in the incident.
Platte Road is a remote road off Seville Lane in Coram. Hislop is currently being held on $150,000 bail.
