Snow closes most Glacier Park roads for the season

| November 21, 2024 8:25 AM

Most secondary Glacier National Park roads are now closed for the winter. The park saw significant snow Wednesday.

The Many Glacier Road and Two Medicine Road are closed for the season and so is the Cut Bank Road at the Park boundary. The Quarter Circle Bridge Road is closed as well.

The Inside North Fork Road is closed between Fish Creek and Polebridge and the Kintla Lake Road is closed at at Polebridge. The Bowman Lake Road is closed as well.

The Going-to-the-Sun Road is closed at Avalanche Creek on the west side and Rising Sun on the east side.

Park crews plow the west side of the Sun Road in the winter up to Lake McDonald Lodge. It usually closes down to the lodge from Avalanche in mid-December.

On the east side, crews plow it about 1.5 miles up the road. The rest is allowed to snow in.

Higher elevations in Glacier could see up to a foot more snow by Sunday.

This story has been updated to reflect the Kintla Lake Road closure.
