Slick roads lead to wrecks

Columbia Falls firefighters and Three Rivers EMS responded to two accidents within minutes of each other Wednesday morning.

The first was a three-car wreck at the Blue Moon intersection and the second was a rollover just down the road about a mile and half where an SUV rolled over on its side along the highway.

A person was taken to the hospital via ambulance at the Blue Moon wreck and another was limping at the scene. The rollover didn’t appear to have any major injuries.

Roads were snowy and icy.

The precipitation over the next few days is expected to be a mix of rain and snow as a major storm strikes the Northwest. Areas of Washington state along the coast are seeing hurricane-force winds and the bomb cyclone, as it’s called, has air pressure readings as low as a hurricane.

The greatest precipitation, however, is expected in Northern California, while Northwest Montana could see a half inch to two inches of rain at lower elevations and snow in the higher terrain.
