Track hosts divisional tournament Friday and Saturday

The Columbia Falls boys took second and the girls took fifth at the Polson ABC track meet Saturday in the final regular season meet this year.

The Wildcats host the Western A Divisional tourney this Friday and Saturday.

The field events start Friday at the Dr. Mike Nicosia Track and Field Complex at the junior high at 1 p.m. with boys shot put and pole vault and the girls long jump and javelin.

The 100 meter dash trials start at 2 p.m. for both boys and girls. The 100 meter finals are noon Saturday, though there is a chance of rain both days. Highs are expected to be in the 60s.

At Polson, sprinter Malaki Simpson capped off the regular season with a win in the 100 meters and a time of 10.93. The 4 x 100 relay won with a 43.22 and the 4 x 400 relay won with a 3.26.15.

Lane Voermans won the discus with a 170-6 throw, a new personal record for him.

Banyon Johnson nabbed the high jump title with a leap of 6-2. Oliver Kress tied for first in the pole vault with a 12-6.

On the girls’ side, Marissa Schaeffer took fourth in the 3,200 with a 12:44. Aubrey Smith was third in the 100 hurdles with a 17.09. The 4x400 relay won with a 4:14.7, a new mark for this season’s squad of Chloe Savoy, Mya Badger, Ashley Andrews and Ally Sempf.

Emma McAllister was second in the pole vault with a 10 feet leap. Soli Bullemer won the triple jump with a 34-5.
