Track does well at Archie Roe, triangular
The Columbia Falls track and field teams got a lot of work in last week as the regular season winds down. Last Tuesday they hosted a triangular with Whitefish and Bigfork at home and then Saturday traveled to the Archie Roe meet in Kalispell.
Notable performances at Archie Roe, one of the bigger meets of the year, included Malaki Simpson, who ran a sub 11-second 100 meters to win the event with a 10.92. Jack Phelps won the 400 with a 50.44. The Cats also took third in the 4x100 relay with a 43.17 and fourth in the 4x400 relay with a 3:31.95.
Joe West took fifth in the javelin with a 156-10. Stanley Stremick was fifth in the triple jump with a 41-6.75.
On the girls side, Ally Sempf won the 400 with a 59.79. Ellie Stutsman was sixth in the discus with a 97-4. Soli Bullemer was second in the pole vault with a 10-6 and Emma McAllister was third with a 10-0.
Both teams took fifth overall.
In the triangular, notable performances included Simpson, who won the 100. The boys won the 4x100. Lane Voermans won the discus and West won the javelin. Banyan Johnson tied for first in the high jump with a 5-10.
Isla Alexander won the 1,600 with a 6:02.68. Courtney Hussion won the 100 hurdles with a 17.94 and the long jump with a 15-7.5. The Wildkats won the 400 relay over Bigfork.
Ellie Stutsman won the discus with a 104-2. Taryn Borgen won the high jump with a 4-6. Ilah McKenzie won the triple jump with a 31-10.5.
The team has a lot of meets before hosting divisionals May 17-18. On Tuesday they traveled to Browning for a time trial, then have a dual with Glacier High School Thursday, then travel to Polson for the ABC meet to wrap up the regular season.
