Fainter, Cronk go undefeated in Class A Duals

The Columbia Falls Wildcats boys wrestling team won Pool C and earned fourth place overall in the Montana Class A Duals in Butte Jan. 19-20, defeating Hamilton 54-15, Three Forks/Ennis 48-30, Miles City 48-21, Bigfork 52-21 and Lockwood 39-36. They fell for the first time in the semifinal to Laurel, 58-18 then the third place match to Ronan 43-30. Traic Fainter (113) and Blaise Cronk (160) both went 7-0, undefeated. Billy Gustafson (152) and Rowdy Crump (182) went 6-1.

The girls team had several placers on day one in their pool, Jaelynn Nace (100) and Jaici Watt-Duran (145) took first, Kaycee Orvis (114), Seirra Born (120), Paris Jerome (126) and Samantha Larsen (152) second and Vannessa Nace (100) third. Going into the bracket on day two, were on the podium; Jaelynn Nace and Watt-Duran in second, Larsen in third and Vanessa Nace in fourth. 

The teams will keep busy this week, the Mat Cats will be in Libby Tuesday, Jan. 23 after presstime to take on Libby, Polson and Whitefish. Thursday, Jan. 25 they host Ronan at home for the Ballers and Brawlers event, wrestling starts at 6 p.m. On Friday, Jan. 26 the Whitefish Duals start at 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 27 the Mission Mountain Classic will be held in St. Ignatius.
