More details have been released in the case of a man who allegedly shot at customers at a store in Hungry Horse on Dec. 8.

Adrian Sebastian Gengler, 28, of  Martin City, has been charged with three counts of felony assault with a weapon and one charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted person.

According to an information report in Flathead County District Court, at approximately 8:48 p.m. Flathead County Sheriff’s Deputies received a report of multiple shots fired outside Canyon Foods.

Deputies responded and found Gengler allegedly crouched down next to a Post Office box at the north end of the building.

They ordered him to show his hands and he dropped a handgun at his feet and then ran away. Deputies were able to run him down.

Deputies interviewed a motorist who said their vehicle was hit by gunfire somewhere near the Sinclair Gas Station to the east. They were not injured, but very upset.

Another man said he was taking items out of his car near his home on Beta Road. He heard two pops and then yelled at Gengler who was crouched down. Gengler then allegedly popped up and fired three rounds at him. Gengler then ran and the man said he heard two more shots being fired.

Another man was leaving Canyon Foods when Gengler allegedly pointed a gun at his face.

The man and his wife kept walking toward their vehicle and Gengler said something to the effect that, “they’re shooting at me first.”

Once at their truck,  the man told Gengler to put his gun away.

Gengler then allegedly pointed the gun at the man and fired once, but missed him and his vehicle.

Employees at Canyon Foods had tried to help Gengler prior to that. He’d been hanging around the store since about 2 p.m. and had complained that he was kicked out his father’s house and needed a ride to Kalispell.

Upon further investigation Gengler allegedly admitted to using methamphetamine that day.

Gengler is known to law enforcement. On Feb. 9, 2023, he was sentenced to 15 years in prison for sexual intercourse without consent. All the sentence was suspended, however. But as a registered sex offender he is prohibited from possessing a firearm.

Gengler is scheduled to be arraigned on Dec. 19.
