Columbia Falls got all AA schools at the Jim Street Mining City Duals and collected two victories in Butte on Dec.13-14.

“When you look at the dual format in a tournament, and how it relates to an individual tournament, you really get to see which kids can take losses because you’re guaranteed four to five matches, and you have to go out there,” Columbia Falls head coach Jessie Schaeffer said. “It can be humblin,g but it really shows kids’ character and heart.”

Against Missoula Hellgate, the Wildcats notched a 54-6 victory with four pins. At 126 pounds, Octavious Christianson scored a fall for Columbia Falls over Max Marin. Teammate Bradley Beck followed that up with a fall at 132 pounds over Cade Schulte.

Dylan Delorme was a winner at 165 pounds, pinning his Missoula Hellgate foe Samuel Heiner in 1:17. Rowdy Crump also won for Columbia Falls at 190 pounds with a 14-second pin.

Columbia Falls also defeated Glacier 46-30 with five pins. Bradley Beck had a 46-second pin at 132 pounds, while Fisher Whitaker notched a pin over Glacier’s Dillon Sams at 138 pounds, and Kale Schaeffer fell Jaden Beston at 144 pounds.

Rebel Crump won with a pin after 5:23 of wrestling at 157 pounds for Columbia Falls, while Rowdy Crump won at 190 pounds with a fall. Winslow Peter also notched a major decision 16-2 for Columbia Falls at 175 pounds.

Columbia Falls did drop a dual against Great Falls despite pins by Dylan Delorme at 165 pounds, and Winslow Peter at 175 pounds. Rowdy Crump also notched a major decision 16-6 at 190 pounds.

In a 56-24 loss to Missoula Sentinel, Columbia Falls got a pin from Dylan Delorme at 165 pounds and Rowdy Crump at 190 pounds, both under two minutes.

Great Falls CMR defeated Columbia Falls 64-16, but Bradley Beck did notch a major decision 9-1 at 132 pounds, while Dylan Delorme scored a pin at 165 pounds, and Winslow Peters also recorded a fall at 175 pounds.

“The dual format can be tough to move through, and there are many good kids at the AA level,” Schaeffer said. “Great Falls was third overall and is a tough team. It is a level that we want kids to be at. We’re starting four freshmen, so it might take some time, but we want to work towards that level.”
