A host of athletes inducted into Hall of Fame
Several Columbia Falls 2024 graduates have been inducted into the high school Hall of Fame.
They are:
Ally Sempf, who was a member of the 2021 state championship cross country team as well as a standout track athlete, making all-state three of her four high school years in sprint events. She took third at the state meet in the 100, 200 and 400 in 2023.
Hope McAtee, who was a standout athlete in soccer and basketball. In soccer she holds the Montana High School Association single game all class record in assists, single season assists and career assists. In basketball she was two time all-state and team MVP in 2023.
Maddie Moultray was a standout softball player, helping lead the team to state A championships in softball as the team’s starting pitcher with 263 strikeouts and an ERA of 1.26 her junior year and 2.06 her senior year. She was also an excellent volleyball player with 463 career kills and was a member of the 200 meter freestyle relay school record in swimming.
Jace Hill was a standout football and basketball player for the Wildcats and was twice all-state football and four times all-state basketball as the team’s point guard. In football he was an outstanding wide receiver with 1,818 yards career yards, helping lead the Cats to a runner-up finish at the state A football championship against Dillon in 2023. He was also a two-time letterman in baseball.
Kai Golan was a standout soccer player, scoring a hat trick in about 20 minutes as a forward as the Wildcats which helped lead the team to a state championship in 2022. He holds the state record for most goals in a state championship, (3) and a game (6). He holds the Montana all-class goals record at 68. He was also a standout kicker for the football team and an excellent sprinter in track as a member of the state championship 4 by 400 meter relay in 2023.
Cody Schweikert was a standout football, basketball and baseball. In football he led the Wildcats to a runner-up finish in the state A championship in 2023 as the team’s quarterback and linebacker, where he was all state for several seasons. He was also all-state in basketball in 2024, all state in baseball in 20023 and ‘24 and all conference in tennis is ‘21 and ‘22.
Malaki Simpson was a standout runner for the Wildcats, with state championships in the 100 and 200 meters in 2024, and the 4-by-100 in 2023. He is the state A record holder in the 100 meters (10.74) and 200 meters, (21.67)
Cash Byrd is the winner of the Tom Dumay Award. The award honors an athlete who embodies the spirit of Dumay. Dumay was two weeks away from his 22nd birthday when he drowned at the head of Lake McDonald in Glacier National Park while on a rescue mission to locate six-year-old Gregory Trenor of Seattle. Gregory had fallen into the swift-moving McDonald Creek on Thursday evening, June 27, 1963.
Byrd was a two-year varsity letter award winner in soccer and a four-year letter award winner in wrestling. He was also a member of the 2022 state championship soccer team.
