A group of Montana and Colorado women are going to Guatemala  for a voluntourism trip to help women there.  Dr. Linda Carlson of Colorado and Serena Keller of Bigfork Rotary lead the group.

Their task is to teach parent groups to make re-usable menstrual products so girls can attend school when on their periods. Dr. Carlson has previously led groups to Nepal, Senegal, India and Greenland and now is excited to be in Guatemala engaging women with women in the project designed to normalize menstrual hygiene and improve girls’ school attendance.

This is an appeal for materials and tools. Used clean flannel sheets, threads, needles, cutting tools and board are welcome.

Drop off points in Columbia Falls and Kalispell are Teakettle Women’s Clinic, Sassafras gift store, Freedom Bank and Heaven’s Peak Healthcare.

Deadline for donations is Jan. 12.
