National Weather Service says freezing rain a distinct possibility Saturday
The Flathead Valley could see freezing rain starting late Friday into Saturday, the National Weather Service is warning.
The worst-case scenario is calling for up to a tenth of an inch of freezing rain and/or mixed precipitation, with the bulk of the bad weather coming in Saturday
Motorists are urged to use caution, even if the thermometer is above freezing, as shaded areas like the Bad Rock Canyon could be very icy, cautioned National Weather Service meteorologist Jeff Katsmiller.
By Sunday it should transition back to snow, though not much snow is expected.
This would be the second freezing rain event in a month, as a storm in November knocked out power and wreaked havoc on area roadways Nov. 22-23.
On Monday expect snow showers and then another high pressure system moves in by Tuesday, though it will come with valley inversions and more freezing fog as we’ve seen in the past week.
