A woman and her three children were displaced from their Columbia Falls home after a fire Tuesday night (Dec. 3).

Columbia Falls Fire Chief Karl Weeks said the fire started in the laundry room and while there was no structural damage to the home on Fourth Street West, it had extensive smoke damage, making it uninhabitable.

The fire was called in at 11:47 p.m. and firefighters were on the scene at 11:56 p.m. Columbia Falls Police had initially hit the fire with extinguishers, which helped knock down the blaze.

A dog was saved from the home and no one else was injured.

Evergreen and Whitefish responded with mutual aid. The exact cause of the blaze was still under investigation.

A Go Fund Me link has been set up to help the family.
