Soon skateboarders will have their own place to ride in Columbia Falls. The city council Monday night approved a $589,000 contract with Dreamland Skate Parks for a 10,000 square foot park.
The new park will be located in the southwest corner of Fenholt Park, tucked along the hillside. Initial clearing and grading was completed by members of the Badrock Skatepark Association and city crews last summer.
Dreamland, out Lincoln City, Oregon, has done parks across the region, including parks in Whitefish, Polson, Troy and Arlee to name a few.
Work should start next week, Dreamland owner Danyel Scott told council Monday night.
The project is bolstered a $330,000 Land, Water and Conservation grant.
In addition, the Church Women United have donated $50,000 toward a bathroom at the park.
That funding came from the recent sale of the Klothes Kloset, which the organization owned for years.
Formed in 2021, the Bad Rock Skate Park Association, a local group of boarders and their families, had already raised about $400,000 toward the project.
