Locals do well in long distance races up N. Fork
Vanessa Whattam of Missoula won the Cedar Creek Marathon on Saturday in Columbia Falls. She clocked a 3:12.08.
Top runner from Columbia Falls was Maria Phelps, who took eighth with a 3:47.
In the half marathon, Carter Knaus of Brookings won with a 1:15.29. Elizabeth Wasserman of Columbia Falls was second with a 1:22.44 and Brad Dolesh of Columbia Falls was third with a 1:27.16.
Peter Metcalf, also of Columbia Falls, was fifth with a 1:35.50.
In the 10k KaeLoni Neville of Kalispell won the race with a 47:51.
Daniel Mahn was second with a 48.16 and Christina Maloney was 12th with a 59.44. Both are from Columbia Falls.
In the 5k Findley Dezzani won the event. The Columbia Falls teen, who is also a ski racer, clocked a 20.39. Peyton King took seventh with a 25:47.
The marathon drew 51 racers.
