Council OK’s city manager, department head salaries

The Columbia Falls city council last month approved a one-year contract for the city manager and for department heads for the 2023-24 fiscal year.

The city manager contract calls for a salary of $110,916 with a contribution to the city’s deferred compensation plan in the amount of $21,500 from July 1 to June 30.

In addition, council grants approval to carry over excess vacation leave earned pursuant to state statute and will consider compensation in lieu of forfeit of any remaining excess hours.

The contract is for one year.

Council also approved the police chief salary at $118,624; public works at $84,032; fire chief at $86,705; finance director at $76,584; city clerk at $36.06 per hour and city judge (part time at .8 full-time equivalent) at $66,580 per year.

Council made no comment or had any discussion on the items.
