Columbia Falls Wildcats girls soccer coach Thomas Clark remembered Whitefish as always being a team able to control the run of play. After the Wildcats’ first loss of the season, 4-2, to Whitefish last week, Clark was proud of the effort — reflecting on his team’s ability to control the run of play for large stretches of the game.

Seniors Hope McAtee and Josie Harris continue to lead the state in goals, with McAtee breaking the all-class state record for assists. With a combination of senor leadership and young talent such as Mila Johns, Bella Mann and Taylor Rodgers, as well as a host of strong freshmen players, Clark said his team is, “hitting on all cylinders.”

The Wildcats showed they could bounce back easily by blanking Libby 9-0 on Thursday, and will get to revisit some of their old competition as they prepare to face Whitefish again in their last game before playoffs.

Mila Johns and Josie Harris scored hat tricks for the Columbia Falls in an 8-0 conference win over the Polson Pirates Tuesday on the road. Onnikka Lawrence and Hope McAtee also scored.

They are excited to play their homecoming game against Bigfork Saturday at 5 p.m. and will look to ride on the energy of their hometown fans.

The last time the two played the game ended in a tie, so a win would be big for the Cats in conference standings.
