Three Columbia Falls musicians make All-State band

Three Columbia Falls High School seniors; Abbey Biel, Evan Fisher and Lotus Helland; will join the All-State Band festival at University of Montana in Missoula Oct. 18-20.
Band director Josh Forke noted that as far as he was aware, this is the most students CFHS has sent to All-State at one time. Biel plays tenor saxophone, Fisher trombone and Helland tuba. For an A school, three All-State musicians is quite an accomplishment.
The students recorded and submitted five etudes for a blind audition, competing against AA-A-B class schools across the state. Now that they have been selected, they will journey to Missoula and play alongside the other honorees under the direction of CFHS alumnus Larry Goukin, an esteemed conductor at Central Washington University.
Also on the schedule for the CFHS Band is a home concert at the Little Theater on Oct. 18 at 7 p.m.
