Roy man killed in Halfmoon wreck
A Roy, Montana man was killed in a one-vehicle accident near Braig and Halfmoon Roads Nov. 1.
According to Montana Highway Patrol, a Subaru Impreza driven by a 34-year-old male from Kalispell was northbound on Halfmoon Road when the vehicle failed to negotiate the turn, crossed the center line, crossed the railroad tracks and then went of the roadway on the left hand side into a deep embankment where it struck some small trees and then the bottom of the bank.
Travis Kohlbeck, 53, a passenger in the vehicle, died on the scene of the crash.
The name of the driver was not released, but he survived and was taken to Logan Health in Kalispell for treatment. Alcohol was suspected in the crash. Neither Kohlbeck or the driver were wearing seatbelts.
The accident remains under investigation by the Montana Highway Patrol.
