Voermans wins discus at state track meet
The Columbia Falls boys won the 400 relay at the state A track meet last week in Laurel. The team of Adam Schrader, Kai Golan, Jace Duval and Malaki Simpson beat Dillon by a mere .02 of a second, posting a time of 42.72.
Lane Voermans won the discus with a throw of 166-5 and was sixth in the shot put with a throw of 48-8.75.
Malaki Simpson was second in the 100 and 200 meters with times of 10.98 and 21.95, respectively He was actually faster in the prelims of the 100, with a 10.83, which was better than the winning time of Frenchtown’s Carter White, who won the event with a 10.9.
The boys took third in the 400 relay with a time of 3.27.51. Jack Phelps, Schrader, Duval and Simpson ran that race.
Bryce Dunham took fourth in the javelin with a 170-2.
Duval was fifth in the long jump with a 20-5.75.
On the girls’ side, Ally Sempf was third in the 100 meters with a 12.73, and third in the 200 with a 25.92. She also took third in the 400 with a 58.44.
Siri Erickson was fourth in the 1,600 with a 5:19.37 and sixth in the 3,200 with a 11:59.16.
The girls were sixth in the 1,600 relay with a 4:11.98 run by Ashley Andrews, Mila Johns, Sempf and Tia Baker.
Soli Bullemer took sixth in the pole vault with a 10-foot leap, tying with teammate Emma McAllister.
As a team, the boys took fifth and the girls took 10th.
