Columbia Falls teens win state fishing tourney

A pair of Columbia Falls High School freshmen fishermen have qualified for a national championship fishing tournament after winning the Montana Student Angler Federation State Championship May 21 on the Noxon Reservoir.
The team of Drake Dawson and Christian Rensel of Columbia Falls won the championship title by 11 ounces and secured their spot in the National Championship, weighing in an 18-pound, 15 ounce bag of largemouth bass, including the “big fish” of the tournament weighing in at 5 pounds.
They will now be headed to LaCrosse, Wisconsin to compete in the Nation Championship, June 20-24.
