East Side Hungry Horse Reservoir Road opens Monday to Spotted Bear, but West Side will be delayed due to a slump in road

The East Side Hungry Horse Reservoir Road is scheduled to open to Spotted Bear Monday, May 15.

The West Side Hungry Horse Reservoir is closed at Lost Johnny Point. A slump near Forest Creek has damaged the road and will need to be fixed this summer before the road can open completely. The slump on the West Side was actually caused by last year’s flooding. It was temporarily fixed, but slumped further over the winter.

The plan is to open the West Side to Lid Creek by later next week, but it will take some time to fix the slump.

The West Side Reservoir slump has to be fixed this year, as in September, a culvert on the east side is due for replacement, which means that road on that side will be temporarily closed.

Up the North Fork, the Forest Service did a lot of work on Trail Creek Road last year, so it should be smoother than it has been in years past..
