Girls go 4-0 on the week, beat Bulldogs twice
The Columbia Falls softball team went 4-0 on the week, as the hammered Whitefish 21-0, dropped Mission 14-0, and beat Fergus County, (Lewistown) 10-7 at the Frenchtown Invitational. On Monday they capped it off with a 19-4 victory over the Bulldogs.
Demye Rensel led the Wildkats against the Bulldogs in the first rout. Maddie Moultray and Haden Peters combined for a one-hitter. The game went three inning due to the mercy rule, as the Kats put up 14 runs in the second on a host of Bulldog errors.
Against Mission, Moultray threw a one-hitter and allowed no runs in a game that went five innings.
Sydney Mann had a dinger and a double and Tayler Lingle a double. Mann had 3 RBIs to lead the Kats.
Against Lewistown the Kats were down 3-1 after the first two innings, but they put 3 across in the third, 2 across the fourth, fifth and six innings to secure the win.
The Kats had 12 hits and two errors.
Aspen Dawson and Maddie Moultray hit doubles and Moultray also had a triple.
Moultray also went the distance on the mound, allowing 7 hits and striking out six in the victory.
Aspen Dawson, Rensel and Kyra Trenkle all had homers.
On Monday Moultray pitched the win over the Bulldogs and had a three-run homer.
The girls face Browning on the road Tuesday and then host Libby in a key conference matchup Saturday.
The Kats are now 9-3 on the season.
