West Glacier wildfire meeting coming up

The 2023 West Glacier Area Community Wildfire information meeting is Thursday July 6. At 4 p.m. there’s a home assessment at 535 Sloan Lane, West Glacier with DNRC wildfire specialists for a house that is being remodeled. There will be a comparison of the new siding and deck that is “fire resistant” to old siding and wood deck that is not.
At 6 p.m. there is a community meeting at Montana House, Apgar Village in Glacier Park.
Wildfire specialists from the four agencies (Glacier Park, Forest Service, DNRC and County OES) will present information, answer questions, with the focus on “communication, information and working together with neighbors and agencies.”
They will talk on a variety of subjects, including:
Home safety zones, who to contact for home assessment.
Changes in a neighborhood and how that affects wildfire safety concerns.
Evacuation procedures.
Working together - citizens with neighbors and agencies.
Both events are open to the public with focus on the West Glacier Area that includes: Lake McDonald, Lake Five and Canyon.
