Last chance to file for city elections

| June 14, 2023 7:25 AM

This is the last week to file for the Columbia Falls City election. Those who want to file for three open seats must have their paperwork in by June 19 (Monday).

To date incumbents Darn Fisher and John Piper have filed for re-election, while longtime businesswoman Kathyrn Price has filed for Kelly Hamilton’s seat.

Hamilton was appointed by council after Doug Karper retired last year. Hamilton said she also has filed as well.

People interested in running must be registered voters, except if someone is 17, they can register for the race if they turn 18 before the election.

The cost to register is $15 and can be done online or in person at the county election department in Kalispell.

Folks who want to file need proof of ID and residency in the city, such as a driver’s license.

Councilmembers are paid $200 a month. Terms are for four years.
