CFAC liaison panel to meet, talk cleanup

The Columbia Falls Aluminum Co. liaison panel will have its own meeting before a round of meetings by technical advisors and the Environmental Protection Agency.

The meeting is 6 p.m. June 20 at the North Forty Resort on Highway 40 said Mary Green, of Green Communications.

She said Roux Associates, who wrote the feasibility study and remedial investigation for the company, will be there to present an overview of the proposed work plan, which contains and treats waste, but does not remove it from the site.

The next day, June 21, the Technical Assistance Services for Communities program, a third-party group of experts, will hold community meetings at noon and at 6:30 p.m. at Columbia Falls City Hall to talk about the proposed plan.

They will also have a meeting July 12 at the same times to talk further and answer any followup questions.

The the EPA itself will have a meeting on the proposed action from 6:30-8:30 p.m. June 28 at the Columbia Falls City Hall to talk about the proposed plan and solicit comments before a Record of Decision Amendment is released later this year.
