Glacier Twins have topsy-turvy week

The Glacier Twins had the home advantage all weekend long as they hosted the Ed Gallo Memorial Wood Bat tournament in Whitefish.
Playing the evening game each day, besides Sunday which was the championship game, the Twins went 2-2 throughout the tournament. Glacier started off with a big win over the Miles City Mavericks, 9-1, on Thursday. Then the home team dropped their games over the next two days — losing to Gonzaga Prep AAA 5-4 and the Spokane Cannons 18U 3-0. Glacier bounced back on the final day to win 14-5 over Gonzaga Prep AAA.
In the win over the Mavericks on day one, a six-run second inning highlighted the game. The offensive burst was led by Maddox Muller, Josiah Ruther, Kellen Kroger and Jake McIntyre who all hit RBIs sending runners across the plate.
McIntyre was the starting pitcher for Glacier and he gave up one run on five hits over five innings, striking out three.
In the second game, the Twins fought back after Gonzaga pushed its lead to four runs in the top of the sixth. In the bottom of the inning, Josiah Ruther hit a double and Kellen Kroger had a ground ball to send Maddox Muller over the plate. The comeback came up just short as the Twins lost 5-4.
On Saturday, the pitching was strong on both sides in the low scoring 3-0 win for Spokane. Sam Hall started on the mound for Glacier and recorded 15 outs. The game remained scoreless until the Cannons put up three runs in the top of the seventh to win.
Bouncing back on the final day of the tournament, Glacier won 14-5 over Gonzaga, a team they had lost to just two days prior. The Twins had a big five-run second inning and kept the offense flowing to end the game early in the sixth inning.
Earlier in the week, Glacier also split games with the Bitterroot Bucs losing the first 0-3 and winning the second 6-5.
This week the Twins play at Libby on Wednesday, in Kalispell on Friday and then host Kalispell at Memorial Field on Saturday at 1 p.m. for a doubleheader. Saturday is senior day and the Twins will head to Districts the following week.
