Torpen achieves Eagle Scout rank, highest honor in scouting
Columbia Falls Boys Scout Treyson Torpen has received his Eagle Scout rank, the highest in scouting.
For his Eagle Scout project Torpen built a flag retirement drop box at the Montana Veterans Home. The box, done in stone, is for folks to drop off old American flags so they can be properly burned in a ceremony that’s done by the local troop 1941.
Torpen, a senior at Columbia Falls High School, said he’s been scout since the first grade.
He said the thing he enjoys the most about scouting is, “Teaching the new kids everything I’ve learned.”
After high school he plans on joining the Marine Corps to be an aircraft mechanic. He enjoys fixing things and has been working in the Columbia Falls bus barn as part of his high school credit.
Torpen played football, wrestled and will play baseball this spring. His parents are Tom and Kim Torpen.
