Meadow Lake ski event this weekend

| January 11, 2023 1:35 PM

Glacier Nordic Club and Meadow Lake Golf Course have partnered to bring groomed cross country ski trails to Columbia Falls once again. The previous 6k of trails have grown to 9k, and Chet Hope Youth Ski League has grown to run on Monday evenings at the Columbia Falls venue.

A free ski day is coming up on Jan. 15 at the resort, with free lessons as well.

“We are excited to build the winter recreation opportunities by providing more grooming.” says new GNC Executive Director, Jennie Bender. “As this is a lower elevation course, snow levels and how well the course holds snow will tell us a lot. We really appreciate our ski community who commute from afar, so we hope this helps share the accessibility of the sport. We would love to connect with skiers in the area who would be interested in group skis at Meadow Lake, helping with Chet Hope on Mondays, or helping us start our mug-club social at the Meadow Lake Restaurant and Coffee shop”

Meadow Lake Resort sells day passes and season memberships, which help support operations, machines, gas, signs, and manpower.

There are no Nordic rentals at this time based out of Columbia Falls but skiers can rent from a number of sources to ski at Meadow Lake, including the Glacier Nordic Shop, Glacier Cyclery and Nordic, Whitefish Outfitters, and Sportsman’s.
