You may be eligible for a tax break
The state of Montana reminds folks that deadlines are approaching for programs that could lower one’s property taxes.
• March 1 is the deadline for residential property owners to submit an application for the Land Value Property Tax Assistance Program. Homeowners may qualify for this tax assistance if the department’s appraised market value of their land is more than 150 percent of the department’s appraised market value of their home and other improvements on the land.
• April 15 is the deadline for real property and mobile homeowners to apply for the Property Tax Assistance Program (PTAP). Eligibility for this program is based on home ownership, occupancy requirements, and income qualifications.
• April 15 is the deadline for 100% disabled Montana veterans or their unmarried surviving spouse to apply for the Montana Disabled Veterans (MDV) Property Tax Assistance Program. Eligibility for reduced property taxes is based on home ownership, occupancy, military disability requirements, and income qualifications.
