Girls drop Loggers
The Columbia Falls girls basketball team got a key conference win last week, downing Libby, 62-28 on the road.
The Wildkats outscored the Lady Loggers 16-3 in the second quarter.
Hope McAtee had 19 points and 10 rebounds and sophomore Taryn Borgen had 17 in the win. Nine players got into the scoring column.
“I thought we went out and played pretty well in Libby,” coach Cary Finberg said.
McAtee, in addition to her points, had 10 rebounds, Borgen had four steals and Ani LaChance had six assists and eight rebounds.
A game against Class B Shelby Saturday was canceled.
The girls wrap up the regular season this week with a road game against Ronan Thursday and a home game Whitefish Saturday. The Saturday game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
If the Kats win out, they win the tie break over Polson for second in the division with a 7-3 conference record — not bad for a team that features a junior and a host of sophomores.
After that, it’s two weeks of practice, as the divisional tourney doesn’t start until Feb. 23.
