Girl killed in car accident on Highway 2
A 10-year-old girl from Columbia Falls and Libby died in a two-vehicle car accident Saturday night at mile marker 106.1 on Highway 2 between Kalispell and Libby.
She was later identified as Aliyah Kolb.
According to a Montana Highway Patrol report, the vehicle Kolb was traveling in with her father, Shawn Kolb, was eastbound on the highway when it crossed the center line and struck a westbound car from Marion head-on at about 8:57 p.m.
Aliyah Kolb was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver from Marion was not seriously injured.
According to Highway Patrol, speed was a factor in the crash.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to to help Shawn Kolb and the family with expenses. Shawn Kolb was severely injured in the crash, according to friends and is being treated at Logan Health in Kalispell. He did not have health insurance, friends said.
