The Blotter: Man shot in stomach by girlfriend

Dec. 8

A motor vehicle accident was recorded after several calls on a silver mini van driving erratically on Larch Hill Drive. Montana Highway Patrol was alerted, no injuries were reported. A man was called in for disorderly conduct after a maintenance man told him he could not smoke cigarettes in his car outside the school on Fourth Avenue, which turned into an argument. 

Dec. 9

An extra patrol was requested on Eddy Circuit after someone drove through the caller’s yard overnight. 

Dec. 10

On Ninth Street, a disagreement between roommates escalated into a reported assault, the renter and subtenant were advised of the eviction process. A disturbance of the peace was reported on Martha Road by a neighbor who overheard a verbal dispute, the parties were separated. An 11-year-old male on Sixth Avenue was counseled by police after becoming physically violent with his parents. 

Dec. 11

A missing juvenile male was reported on Talbot Road after leaving the school campus without permission, recovered at Town Pump. A marijuana vape was confiscated from a student on Thirteenth Street. Harassment was reported at The Summit in Kalispell between two Columbia Falls High School students after one nearly elbowed the other into the swimming pool in what was evidently an ongoing bullying issue. The school was informed of the incident. An Ace Hardware customer paid for a chainsaw with a fraudulent check. A mother reported her son was physically removed from the bus at Ruder Elementary by the driver after he attempted to ride a different bus than usual to another family member’s house. A disturbance was reported on River Road, as the caller could hear a woman yelling, “Help,” it was confirmed as a verbal argument and the parties were separated. 

Dec. 12

A man was allegedly shot in the lower stomach on Dawn Drive by his girlfriend, who was reportedly acting in self-defense following threats and a physical attack from the man.

Dec. 13

An incident report was made on Cedar Pointe Loop by a rental owner alleging nearly $9,000 was owed by the property manager, who collected money from summer rentals. A student on Talbot Road received a mental health response after throwing chairs and punching things in class, police calmed him and he was released to his grandfather. A caller reported a young boy coming up to them and saying his mother had shot his father in the leg on Crescent Drive, responders found blood on the ground and a Ruger pistol at the scene, the call log lists the incident as accidental. A woman was informed on temporary restraining orders after an old friend threatened her over the phone about money he lent her around seven years ago, which she alleged he had told her not to worry about paying back. On Ninth Street, an early 2000’s Chevy Suburban was reported with sparking near its tires and smoke coming from the vehicle, possibly a broken axle, the vehicle stopped across the highway from Verizon and was put out with a fire extinguisher. 

Dec. 14

In Hungry Horse, the Old Ranger Station on Colorado Boulevard was reported smoking. Hungry Horse Fire Department extinguished the fire and requested Columbia Falls Fire Department help clear the building. A shoplifter was cited for theft and trespassed on Ninth Street. 

Dec. 15

Extra patrols were designated for Nucleus Avenue after reports that someone was turning off the power to a building there. A welfare check was made to Fourth Avenue after the caller reported hearing her friend’s father walk in and yell, start beating her over the phone. Police were informed the girl had her phone taken away from her previously. 

Dec. 16

The driver of a silver Chevy Silverado allegedly pulled a gun on the caller and their daughter on Ninth Street due to road rage. 

Dec. 17

A silver Dodge Ram ran into a light pole on Ninth Street, no injuries were reported. On Martha Road, a man reported his uncle was bleeding profusely from his arm after his girlfriend stabbed him.
