Speech team does well in Kalispell against AA teams
The Columbia Falls Speech and Debate team competed in a Class AA two-day tournament at Flathead and Glacier High Schools over the weekend. There were 16 schools, and 418 competitors.
The Wildcats did an amazing job, coach Dawn Roe said, with 22 out of 34 competitors breaking into semifinals. Columbia Falls finished first in Class A and fourth overall behind Glacier, Flathead and Hellgate High Schools with Whitefish placing second in Class A and seventh overall.
The previous week the Wildcats won the Frenchtown tourney.
Kory Moran was first in humorous interpretation. Reed Wollenzein and Carson Settles, were first in in duo interpretation. Merell Cooley took first in memorized public address and Ruby Davis was first in informative to lead the Wildcats, who racked up 166 points.
Loyola was second and first in Class B with 123 points. Whitefish was third overall and second in Class A with 96 points.
