The Blotter: Neighbors engage in water fight
July 31
Police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Second Avenue to find the driver unconscious with no visible breathing, foot on the accelerator still driving into a parked car. The responding officer suggested the driver fell unconscious before the accident, the body will be examined by the coroner. On 15th Street, officers responded to a report of an argument involving a man open-carrying a pistol with potential to become violent. Review of video footage found the suspect did not physically threaten to use the weapon and allegations were proved false. A dark-colored double-cab truck is the suspect in a hit and run on Nucleus Avenue, the victim does not intend to file a report to insurance. A man was detained on Ninth Street for theft. A female suspect is also under investigation for a theft at Super 1.
August 1
A husky at an Eighth Avenue apartment previously called in as a possible animal abuse case was contained in a concerned neighbor’s house. The officer found no signs of abuse and returned the dog to its owner, asking that he keep the dog from wandering. Alleged child abuse occurred at a private daycare on Country Court, with photos taken documenting the child’s injuries. The case will be passed on to Flathead County Sheriff’s Office. A man was transported by police from the food truck on Third Avenue where he was sleeping to his van. On Fourth Street, a woman reported her brother was disturbing the peace after becoming violent and abusing one of her pets.
August 2
A man, suspected of being a tourist, was asked to leave the railroad tracks after standing in the middle of them taking videos. An officer responded to reports from a neighbor of harassment, including stalking, from a female tenant in an apartment complex on Fifth Street. Parents asked police to smash in their passenger back window to retrieve their infant son accidentally locked in the car on Wildcat Drive. On Nucleus Avenue, a business called for a welfare check on a male and female patron who left the establishment under the influence after the female flashed staff to make sure they were not driving. Shots heard were reported on 12th Avenue, nothing suspicious was found.
August 3
A car accident on Highway 40 resulted in injuries to an involved male.
August 4
Police responded to a property line dispute on Second Avenue where one neighbor hit the fence and attempted to spray their counterpart with the hose. A noise complaint was made on a man using an airhorn to chase off people using the public high water mark along his property on Red Bridge Road, reportedly an ongoing property dispute. Officers responded to a report of theft at Super 1, the suspect paid for a stolen cleaner and charges were not pressed.
August 5
A three-year-old girl reported missing was found sleeping on Third Avenue. A suicide attempt was reported on a man with a noose around his neck standing on a viaduct off North Fork Road. A trespassing charge was requested on a man offering alcohol to minors and making workers uncomfortable on Nucleus Avenue. No known injuries were reported in a car crash on Highway 206.
August 6
Police responded to Second Avenue again for a property dispute, this time with one neighbor attempting to flood out the other’s new fence. The hose owner was not home, so the responding officer turned off the water and left their contact information on the door. A run away juvenile report was made on Sixth Avenue, where the caller’s daughter was suspected to be sneaking out with a boy and had not returned home from work.
