Softball goes 2-1 on the week
The Columbia Falls softball team went 2-1 on the week. Last Tuesday they lost to Frenchtown, 8-5, but bounced back to Beat Ronan Thursday 14-4 and Stevensville 20-3.
Against Frenchtown, the Wildkats found themselves in a 4-1 hole after the first inning and were down 7-2 after 5. The Kats rallied with three runs in the top of the seventh, but that was the best they could do.
Against Ronan, the Kats bats came alive as Aspen Dawson, Maddie Moultray and Sydney Mann all hit homers against the Maidens.
Mann hit a homer with one on in the third and then Dawson answered with a grand slam to all but put the game away.
Ronan put up three runs in the top of the fifth, but the game ended on the mercy rule.
Moultray took the win on the mound.
Against the Yellowjackets, it was Demye Rensel’s turn for a grand slam, as she sent one deep in the fourth inning.
The Kats put up 9 runs in the second and 10 in the fourth to seal the win.
Moultray went four innings and struck out three to get the win on the mound.
The Kats host Browning Thursday and perennial conference foe Polson on Friday. Both games have a 5:30 p.m. start.
The girls are now 4-2 on the season.
