Baseball team roughed up by Eureka at home
The Columbia Falls baseball team had a tough time against Class B Eureka last Tuesday, losing their home opener, 12-5.
The Wildcats took the early lead when Cody Schweikert singled on a 3-2 count to drive a run across the plate in the first. But Eureka answered with a run in the top of the second and then scored four in the third and fourth innings to go up 8-2 after four.
Reggie Sapa led the team with two RBIs, and three stolen bases.
Kellen Kroger had a triple.
Kroger started on the mound for the Cats and gave up 13 hits in 3-2/3 innings. Talon Murphy came in relief and also had a tough time, giving up five hits in 2-2/3 innings.
The Cats looked to right the ship at home against Frenchtown Tuesday. They host Browning Thursday at 5 p.m. then travel to Polson Friday.
The Cats are 1-1 on the season.
