Softball thumps Libby, edged by Glacier

The Columbia Falls softball team settled for a split last week, dropping conference foe Libby 14-3 on the road Tuesday, but losing a tight one to Kalispell Glacier 8-7 on the road Thursday.

The Wildkats are now 2-1 on the season.

Against Libby the Kats scored in every inning, but put the game away with five runs in the top the sixth. They had 10 hits and three errors, while the Loggers had four hits and seven errors in the loss.

Haden Peters led the Kats on the mound with two homers and three RBIs. Demye Rensel also had a dinger. Maddie Moultray got the win on the mound allowing just one hit and one run in four innings.

Against Glacier, the Wolfpack was up 4-0 after four innings, but the Kats put up 7 in the fifth to take the lead.

Rensel , Tayler Lingle, Sydney Mann, Aspen Dawson and Moultray each had RBIs in the inning.

But Glacier put up two in the bottom of the fifth to make it 7-6, then went ahead with two runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead.

The Kats had two on in the top of the seventh but couldn’t get the run across the plate.

They’re scheduled to travel to Frenchtown Tuesday after presstime, then host Ronan at home Thursday, with a varsity start at 5:30 p.m.
